ABOUT
DASH AROUND KAMPESKA
Proceeds from this race will benefit Watertown D.A.S.H. - a program at our local Police Department that hosts annual events that promote family time and empower youth to choose to live Drug Free, Alcohol Free, Safe & Healthy lifestyles. Kids learn by the examples and expectations set for them. On a national level, a social norm of “kids will be kids” has developed when it comes to alcohol and drug use, as if it is a “rite of passage.” This program was created by the Watertown Police Department and volunteers from the Watertown community in 2012 to stop that trend. The idea of creating something that could help teach our local youth to choose to live a drug free, alcohol free, safe and healthy lifestyle was just an idea in 2012. However, that idea turned into a great program that has been going strong for years. Watertown DASH has made a difference in the lives of local youth and their families. Watertown DASH has hosted or sponsored events such as the Child Abuse Awareness 5K/Walk, Freedom Run 5K/Walk, Watertown Area Kids Fun Run, $500 DASH Scholarship, Turkey DASH 5K/Walk, DARE Celebration for 5th grade graduates at the end of the school year, Teen Police Academy, FOP Kids Triathlon, Color with a Cop, and Read with a Cop. No greater good can be done than helping a child live a safe and healthy life. Watertown DASH is 100% funded by the Watertown community at the Watertown Community Foundation. If you have any questions or would like to hear more about the program, you can “like” Watertown DASH on Facebook or contact the Watertown Police Department.
